Mega IT Hub planned in Vishakapatnam

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu was the poster boy of IT development in Hyderabad during his previous tenures. He is working on the lines of bringing down the industry down to the residual Andhra Pradesh to maximize employment opportunities in AP. It is said that Andhra Pradesh government is keen on developing a Mega IT hub in Vishakapatnam by developing IT towers, IT parks and IT zones under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.

The government already announced a progressive and investor-friendly policy to encourage IT industry in the state in terms of several incentives like cost of lands, rentals, power bills etc. The government has also announced additional incentives for SC, ST and women entrepreneurs. The IT industry has also been exempted from statutory power cuts declaring IT industry as essential service under essential services maintenance Act.

Vizag already houses IT firms such as Tech Mahindra, IBM Kenexa, Wipro and ITeS companies such as HSBC, WNS with IT exports up to 1450 Crores. The government feels Vizag will be the best IT destination since there is already infrastructure in place to cater the industry needs. All it needs is the upgradation of existing domestic airport in to international airport. Also this idea will fit in Chandra Babu’s vision of development decentralization.
