Merged mandals facing unique problem!

The seven mandals of Khammam district which were merged to Andhra Pradesh to faciliate Polavaram Project are facing big problems. While the mandals were added to AP, their MLA was left behind in Telangana Assembly. Most of the people in these mandals are from the Adivasi sub-tribes of Koya, Kondareddy and Guttikoya, have no one to voice their concerns in the AP assembly.

Member of Legislative Assembly Development Scheme (MLALADS) are stopped for these mandals from the AP government on the ground that their MLA is not from AP. The Telangana government also denied MLALADSs funds to these areas as they do not fall under its jurisdiction. Even the people are denied such basic facilities as PDS rations and financial assistance for roads and street-lighting.

Unemployed youth are not allowed to take government job examinations in both the states. CPM MLA Sunnam Rajaiah who was elected by these people is demanding that he be allowed to sit in the AP assembly to articulate the voice of his ‘Andhra voters’. His demands are pending with AP Chief Minister and Governor ESL Narasimhan.
