Metro alignment will change: KCR

The ongoing tussle of Hyderabad Metro Rail project between the construction company and Telangana government seems to be nearing a solution. It is known that KCR has instructed the Metro Rail to go underground near Assembly and Sultan Bazaar but construction company L&T refused the changes citing compatibility issues, huge delays and increase in construction costs. Finally the Center intervened and instructed the state government not to alter the design.

KCR seemed to have yielded to Center’s pressure and at the same time, proposed minor changes to the design to not to let go from his word. KCR announced that Metro aligment will change. Instead of going before the Assembly, Metro will go from behind the Assembly. Instead of Sultan Bazaar, the Metro will go from Womens College. L&T officials are yet to ratify these changes.
