Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh’s IT Minister Nara Lokesh is in the United States seeking new investments. He met leaders from Google, Adobe, NVIDIA, Intel, AMD, Canva, Ohmium, and Sales Force. He pitched Andhra Pradesh as a strong destination for their next phase of growth.
Once Lokesh returns, Microsoft will likely be high on his list. His efforts already led Google to announce a 1 Giga Watt AI Hub in Vishakhapatnam with a USD 15 Billion investment. This move gave Andhra Pradesh a major boost.
If Lokesh secures even a part of Microsoft’s USD 17.5 Billion investment for Andhra Pradesh, the state will gain global visibility in IT. Bringing two global tech giants together would also mark a major success for the Minister, who earlier brought TCS, Accenture, and Cognizant to the Port City.
Hyderabad’s biggest breakthrough came when Chandrababu Naidu brought Microsoft’s largest campus outside the United States to the city in 1998. That decision changed Hyderabad’s growth story and turned it into a major tech hub. The impact continues to this day.
Satya Nadella is on a four-day India visit, covering Bengaluru and Mumbai after Delhi. His trip focuses on expanding Microsoft’s presence in cloud and AI. This makes the competition between Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Maharashtra sharper.
Lokesh concludes his five-day US trip today and heads back home. His next steps will determine how Andhra Pradesh positions itself in the race for this marquee investment.
