Minister Becomes Hero on Twitter

Social media is as much a boon as a bane and this can be proved very easily. Recently, a retired navy officer asked for help for his critically ill daughter via a tweet to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and today the defence minister approved airlifting his daughter to the Army Research and Referral Hospital.

The naval officer, Ravi Kant Soni, had asked for air evacuation of his ailing daughter tweeting in a series of posts that, “All hopes due to the absolute positive response of the Air Force seem to have died down at the last moment due to some bureaucratic reason” and that, “Your much-needed help will go a long way…”

After seeing the posts, Parrikar arranged for the air evacuation and assured the ex-navy officer of help through a tweet. What followed was a series of tweets, retweets, and several praises to the Minister. Soon after, Soni also tweeted back his gratitude to Parrikar and the entire IAF team.
