Mithun Reddy To BJP, Will CBN Be A Mute Spectator?

Rumours are doing the rounds in Amaravati that Rajampet MP Mithun Reddy is in talks with the BJP High Command. The speculation suggests he may soon join the Saffron Party, triggering political buzz in Andhra Pradesh.

Chandrababu Naidu recently met Amit Shah in Delhi. Sources claim that Mithun Reddy’s possible entry into the BJP was a key point of discussion during their meeting.

Earlier, Chandrababu Naidu had made it clear to the BJP that admitting YSR Congress leaders could disturb the alliance. The BJP had reportedly agreed to this understanding.

However, this time, the BJP is said to be keen on Mithun Reddy. Party leaders believe he is a strong financial contributor and could help with funding requirements.

It is also felt that the Peddireddy family holds significant political influence in the Chittoor district. Their entry could potentially strengthen the BJP’s presence in the Rayalaseema region.

Amit Shah reportedly tried to convince Chandrababu Naidu that Mithun Reddy joining the BJP would hurt the YSR Congress. He suggested that it could indirectly benefit the Telugu Desam Party.

Naidu, however, is said to have disagreed. He reportedly told Amit Shah that leaders like Mithun Reddy may only take temporary shelter in the BJP while continuing to work for YSR Congress interests.

In the past, Chandrababu Naidu had blocked Vijayasai Reddy’s entry into the BJP. It remains to be seen what decision the BJP High Command will take this time.

Mithun Reddy is known to be close to Jagan Mohan Reddy. He is currently on bail after being arrested in the AP Liquor Scam.

There is a perception that Mithun Reddy is seeking political protection through this move. His father, Peddireddy Rama Chandra Reddy, played a key role in the previous government.

Peddireddy Rama Chandra Reddy has been accused of illegal mining, forest land occupation, land grabbing, and cases against TDP cadre. If the family gets refuge in the BJP, TDP workers in Chittoor district fear severe demoralisation.
