300 Crore Insurance for Ganesha

The richest mandal in the city, GSB Seva Mandal at King’s Circle, has got an insurance cover worth Rs 300 crore. The insurance cover is increased by 2 Crore more than the last year’s and it is due to the increase in silver offerings. The Seva Mandal has got a 15 Kg Silver Mandap for the Lord this year.

The idol at this mandal is adorned with 68kg of gold and 315kg of silver. The Silver reserves of the mandal have increased by 17kg over last year’s 298kg due to a large donation by one particular devotee whose wish was fulfilled. The 300 Crore insurance cover offers protection for 25 crore covers ornaments against theft and robbery, Rs 10 crore insures against fire and earthquake, Rs 40 crore is public liability cover.

225 crore also protects devotees, officials, and volunteers. There are several Mandals in Mumbai city who are insuring their mandals. In fact, some mandals are taking the insurance cover as a prestige issue and are increasing their insurance cover every year as a part of the competition with others.
