Center Takes Telangana Side in Assets Division

Central government seem to be helping Telangana cause in the division of assets and liabilities of institutions under Section 9 and 10. Supreme Court asked both the states to divide them in population ratio and if they do not arrive at a consensus, center was asked to intervene in two months and resolve the issue.

As AP is gearing to approach court yet again, Center hurriedly appointed a committee. Interestingly, it has not set any time frame for the committee indicating that it will go non-stop for years. Also center agreed to Telangana’s argument that the Supreme Court’s ruling is only to the assets of High Education Council.

This was announced MoS Home Affairs, Hansraj Gangaram Ahir in Parliament the other day. But then Supreme Court clearly stated that it is applicable for institutions under Section 9 and 10 of Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act. Andhra Pradesh government may now approach the apex court on this issue.
