New name for ‘Nandi Awards’ finalized?

There had been speculations that the Telangana government might go for a name change for popular State Awards ‘Nandi Awards’, conferred on the artists in the fields of films, TV and theatre in Telugu States.

The agenda of the cabinet sub-committee meeting with TFI personalities called by cinematography minister Talasani Srinivasa Yadav is to discuss the development of the film industry in Hyderabad and also to rename ‘Nandi Awards’. The obvious name seems to be ‘Kaakateeya Awards’.

The final call on the announcement on renaming the State Awards might come this April. Besides renaming the awards, single window system for shootings and permission for screening a fifth show of only small films in theaters was said to be discussed in the meeting.
