No Swine Flu threat for AP!

Even as Swine Flu is spreading at a very fast pace in Telangana, officials in Andhra Pradesh say there is no risk of the flu in the state. Many people are worried that the deadly H1NI virus has been left behind by the thousands of people from Hyderabad who visited their native villages in AP for Sankranti festivities.

But officials say the low temperature required for the virus to spread does not exist in AP and relatively warmer weather prevailing here will control the virus. However Government is unleashing a massive awareness campaign to educate the people about the Virus and possible precautions. Even during the epidemic in 2009, Telangana is most hit than AP.

AP has so far reported 11 positive cases of swine flu and one death, mostly from Chittoor and Prakasam district. Health officials also set up screening centres in Tirupati, which is visited by thousands of pilgrims from across the country.
