Numerous Roadblocks for Vijayawada Metro

Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation (AMRC) had decided to cancel the tenders called for the project as they could not be finalized in the designated time. The project had already been delayed because of lack of funding as well as the delay in the land acquisition. Furthermore, the state government is yet to sign an MOU with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to bring it on board as a concessionaire.

The Central government also has its own share of troubles regarding the project. The Central government did not issue the necessary permissions for the project to finalize the tenders. And then JICA is yet to finalize the loans it has committed for the project. The state government earlier this month allocated 100 Crore for the land acquisition.

The state government is planning to call for the bids only after the land acquisition is complete and after the agreement is signed with DMRC. The government is planning to take the land via pooling as well as acquisition. Interested parties will be given lands near Amaravati and others will get compensation according to Land Acquisition Act.
