Operation Musi: Demolitions Begin In Hyderabad

Apart from HYDRAA, the government of Andhra Pradesh has also initiated action against structures built on the Musi River Bed through the Musi River Development Board.

Over the past few days, officials have marked residences by writing “RB-X” (River Bed Extreme) in various Musi catchment areas. Today, demolitions have begun where the residents were evacuated.

The demolitions started this morning in Shankar Nagar Basti near Chadarghat, which falls under the Malakpet region. Around 140 houses have been vacated in this area.

The demolitions are being carried out under tight security to prevent any disturbances. Residents of the area are being relocated to 2 BHK housing facilities. The government has arranged vehicles to transport residents’ furniture to these facilities.

As part of the Musi River Development Project, officials conducted a survey of the Full Tank Level (FTL) and buffer zones of the river. It was found that there are 16,000 structures built on the Musi River Bed. Those structures were marked with “RB-X”.

Most of these residences belong to poor and middle-class families. The government has decided to provide 2 BHK housing for poor and middle-class residents who lose their homes as part of this project.
