Other Metros No Match to Hyderabad

A recent report by World Health Organisation (WHO) justifies the ‘Medical Hub’ tag to Hyderabad after the report found that the city has the highest density of qualified allopathy doctors per lakh population. There are 161.7 doctors for every one lakh Hyderabadis, the city with other metros no match.

In New Delhi, 154.1 doctors cater to one lakh people, Chennai has 127.8 doctors, Kolkata has 127.1 doctors, Mumbai has 120.8 doctors and Bengaluru has only 118.2 doctors per one lakh people. Medical Tourism also contributed significantly to the economy of Hyderabad and Telangana.

Even foreign patients from third world countries have been flying in droves to Hyderabad for treatment in the corporate hospitals of the city. This report released early this week was authored by Sudhir Anand and Victoria. However on negative side, the city also boasts of over 4,000 practising quacks who treats/cheats the slum dwellers and the poor of Hyderabad.
