Guntur Lok Sabha constituency has been one of the strongholds of the Telugu Desam Party for the last 10 years. Galla Jayadev has been elected twice as the MP from here. However, he decided not to contest in these elections.
After his departure, TDP gave the ticket to another strong candidate, Pemmasani Chandrashekar. Reportedly, he is set to help TDP to score a hat-trick in this constituency.
Even Chandrashekar expressed confidence in his victory and said he would win by 2-3 lakh majority. Speaking with the media in Guntur the other day, he stated that the alliance would win 22-23 of the total 25 seats in the state.
Coming to the assembly seats, Chandrashekar stated that the alliance would comfortably win in at least 130-140 constituencies.
“For the past four months, we’ve journeyed among various communities, engaging in over 300 public meetings. We have developed strong connections with people from all sections of the society,” he stated.
Chandrashekar accused YCP candidate Kilari Rosaiah of hurting the sentiments of the people in this region by endorsing the three-capital policy. He pledged to take revenge against YCP for troubling sitting MP Jayadev Galla.
