A new penalty of 23,090 Rupees has been imposed after the Chief Minister failed to clear the arrears by the first term of the year which ended by June 30th. As a result, the total property tax arrears on Jagan’s house and office reached Rs 16,90,389.
The Municipal Department Property Tax website data report confirms it. Both these properties are in the name of the Chief Minister’s wife, Bharathi Reddy. Since they are not in Jagan’s name, the Government can not extend the tax exemption, legal experts say.
Usually, if a Chief Minister resides in government buildings, the property taxes and other taxes are taken care of from the public exchequer. But then, Jagan is residing and working from his own private properties.
