Phone-Tapping Scandal: First Bail Granted

ASP Bhujanga Rao, who was arrested in the phone-tapping scandal, was granted bail by the Nampally Court on August 19.

Bhujanga Rao was granted 15-day interim bail on medical grounds. In his petition, Bhujanga Rao stated that he needs to undergo treatment for a heart-related problem.

Rao stated that he underwent heart surgery in the past and presented medical reports for the same. Later, he requested the court to grant interim bail as he needed to undergo another heart-related treatment.

Rao had been under judicial remand since March 23 due to his alleged involvement in the phone-tapping case. He was the A2 in this case. He got bail after five months of judicial custody.

Bhujanga Rao, along with a few other police officials like Special Intelligence Bureau chief Prabhakar Rao, DSP rank officer Praneeth Rao, ASP Tirupathanna, and a channel’s executive Sravan Kumar, have been arrested for being a part of the phone-tapping scandal.

It was reported that BRS leaders, with the help of the mentioned police officers, tapped phone calls of various politicians, industrialists and celebrities during their regime in Telangana.
