Who Funded Social Media Attacks? Police Question Sajjala

Police in Annamayya district intensified their probe into alleged abusive social media posts by questioning Sajjala Bhargava Reddy, raising larger questions about accountability behind organised online campaigns.

Bhargava Reddy, who earlier handled YSRCP’s social media operations, appeared before police at B. Kothakota and was later taken to the Madanapalle DSP office. The questioning, led by DSP Pavani, went on for several hours.

Investigators focused not just on the posts, but on the system behind them. Key questions included who assigned him the role, who created the content, and why abusive and allegedly offensive language was repeatedly used, including posts targeting women.

According to sources, Bhargava Reddy gave limited responses, often saying “I don’t know” or “I don’t remember,” even on critical questions related to coordination and responsibility.

Police also examined whether there was an organised structure behind the activity. They sought details on funding sources, possible links to locations like Tadepalli, use of multiple SIM cards, and whether any benefits were received in return for posting such content.

Officials indicated that several questions remain unanswered, strengthening suspicions that the issue may go beyond individual actions.

The case relates to posts circulated in the B. Kothakota region, but investigators are now looking at the wider network behind such campaigns. Police have informed Bhargava Reddy that further notices will be issued and additional questioning is likely.

The presence of YSRCP leaders at the DSP office during the inquiry has also added a political dimension to the case.

With the probe now focusing on funding, coordination and intent, the investigation is moving beyond surface-level questioning towards identifying who was actually responsible.

In the digital age, the bigger question is no longer who posted, but who planned, funded and allowed it to happen.
