‘Power’ becomes big headache for KCR!

It seems T-govt government is okay for record losses to end Power Problem in the state. Telangana government has decided to purchase 14 Million MegaWatts of Power from any possible sources to battle the Power Problems haunting the state. Government has announced that it is ready to purchase power at 8.50 Rupees per unit from any supplier. Government reportedly sent a request with this buying rate to the Southern and National grids and is waiting for their response.

While government is investing 8.50 Rupees per unit, the state gets only 3.70 Rupees on an average due to various issues like power subsidy, transmission losses etc. Telangana State is heavily relying on Hydro electricity for the power production and it has gone down considerably due to the lack of rain. The state has very less Thermal electric power plants in its geographical territory which makes the power production difficult even though there are Singareni mines in the state. Telangana government recently signed an MOU with BHEL to erect power plants of 6000 MW in the next 3 years.
