Ram Gopal Varma is back in the news, this time for legal reasons. A new case has been filed against him by retired IPS officer Anjana Sinha. The Raidurg police registered the case following her complaint.
The controversy revolves around Dahanam, a web series produced by RGV. The series touches upon Maoist themes and reportedly includes references to Anjana Sinha. Varma claimed that some scenes were added based on her suggestions.
However, Anjana Sinha alleges that her name was used without her permission. She has now taken legal action against the filmmaker. Dahanam began streaming on 14 April 2022 and holds the distinction of being RGV’s first web series.
The series was directed by Agastya Manju. It tells the story of a Maoist leader’s murder and his son’s quest for revenge. The gritty plot drew attention for its intense storytelling and political backdrop.
As of now, Ram Gopal Varma has not responded to the new case filed against him.
