Religious Fundamentalists call for Ban on film

Now it’s the turn of Kamal Haasan’s upcoming movie ‘Uttama Villain’ which is being called for a ban by the religious fundamentalists group VHP, Chennai unit for hurting the sentiments of Hindus. They say that lyrics of a song from the film insult the conversation of Hiranyakashipu with Prahlada.

Some members of the Chennai unit of VHP lodged a complaint with the officials in the office of the commissioner of police calling for a ban on the film for belittling Lord Vishnu in the lyrics and the unit is also planning for protests against the release of the film.

These days, it has become almost common for the film makers being targeted using the phrase ‘hurting the sentiments’ of religion or community and creating a controversy of sorts even for the minutest things that would go unnoticed if not for the outcry and staged protests.
