Revanth and KCR face Kaleshwaram debate.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has thrown an open challenge to former CM KCR, demanding a two-day Assembly debate on Kaleshwaram, Godavari waters and the looming El Niño threat. Speaking at an interaction with farmers and agricultural scientists in Kodangal, Revanth urged Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar to schedule the debate in December and asked KCR to attend with his family members.
Revanth accused the previous BRS government of wasting ten years without completing key irrigation projects in Mahabubnagar district. He questioned the decision to abandon the original Pranahita project and build Kaleshwaram after repeatedly changing its design and cost. He also alleged that the project collapsed under the very government that built it.
Targeting KTR, Revanth mocked his beard and alleged attempts to imitate his political image, saying a change in appearance would not bring political maturity or public acceptance.
Moving beyond political attacks, the CM announced development plans worth nearly ₹10,000 crore for Kodangal, including industrial parks, educational institutions and infrastructure. He also highlighted improved land compensation for farmers.
On agriculture, Revanth warned of possible El Niño-related drought conditions and urged farmers to shift towards less water-intensive crops. His challenge to KCR now puts the spotlight back on the BRS government’s irrigation record and its accountability over Kaleshwaram.
