The Supreme Court has taken up the case concerning Saikrishna’s disappearance from the Krishna Lanka Police Station limits in Vijayawada.
YSRCP MP Maddila Gurumoorthy approached the court, alleging that senior police officials were left out of the investigation. He sought a CBI probe into the case.
A three-judge bench headed by Justice Vikram Nath stayed the proceedings in the Andhra Pradesh High Court and ordered the transfer of related cases to the Supreme Court. The bench also directed that the CBI be added as a respondent.
Justice Vikram Nath observed that Saikrishna’s disappearance while in police custody was unlawful. The court directed that all case details be submitted in a sealed cover by September 30.
Notices were issued to all respondents, and the next hearing is scheduled for October 12.
