NTR name for Hyd Airport

Union Civil Aviation Ministry had issued orders renaming the Domestic Terminal of Shamshabad Airport after Legendary film actor and politician, Shri Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. The old Hyderabad airport at Begumpet used to have two terminals.

The international one was named after Rajiv Gandhi and the domestic one after NTR. After Begumpet airport was closed for commercial traffic and Shamshabad is opened, only Rajiv Gandhi’s name was given to both the terminals.

TDP has its candidate, Ashok Gajapathi Raju as the Union Minister for Civil Aviation and he made it happen. This is a long standing demand by TDP fans and Telugu people. But this move may not go well with Telangana government which is headed by a Chief Minister, KCR who refused to utter any Andhra names in the state Assembly. We will see the repercussions of this decision in coming days.
