Will RS Rejection Slow Down Sharmila Now?

For a long time now, Sharmila had been one of the principal leaders for the Congress party in South India as she serves as AP Congress president.

However, Sharmila has not been tasting much success in the recent past. She was able to play a part in the downfall of YS Jagan in the 2024 Andhra Pradesh assembly election, but she herself ended up losing up the Kadapa MP seat.

Thereafter, speculations were rife that the Congress party would reward Sharmila by presenting her with the Rajya Sabha nomination. However, this did not happen either.

Sharmila, who to enter the Rajya Sabha on behalf of the Congress party from Karnataka was delivered a brutal shock as the local government didn’t pick her name.

With so many factors working against Sharmila, she had been going hot and cold in Andhra Pradesh politics in the recent past. She had been confining her public visits to strictly minimal numbers after the completion of the election.

It is a natural for a politician to lose steam when they decide outcome does not necessarily go their way. But considering the fighting spirit that is displayed by Sharmila not just against her brother, but also the tenacity to revive Congress in Andhra Pradesh, it should be a matter of time before she returns to action.
