Siddaramaiah Sting Operation and Congress Controversy

The alleged sting operation targeting former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has triggered a fresh storm within the Congress. The controversy has taken a serious turn after Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy accused Congress leader Krupa Alva of being involved in a plot to damage Siddaramaiah’s reputation. The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) is now preparing to issue her a show-cause notice and seek an explanation.

Viral Video Triggers Political Storm

The controversy began when a video reportedly linked to Siddaramaiah went viral on social media about two weeks ago. Siddaramaiah approached the court and secured a stay order against its circulation. He also lodged a police complaint. Kumaraswamy later alleged that the sting operation was not an isolated incident but part of an internal conspiracy within the Congress. He claimed that Alva worked with the head of a private news channel to execute the operation. He also released photographs and video material that he said supported his allegations.

These claims have placed the Congress leadership under pressure to explain what happened.

Congress Warns of Strict Action

KPCC president BK Hariprasad has made it clear that the party will not spare anyone found guilty of conspiring against Siddaramaiah. He described the alleged operation as an attempt to tarnish the former chief minister’s image and confirmed that a show-cause notice would be issued to Alva. The party will decide on disciplinary action after examining her response. However, the allegations have yet to be independently established.

Kumaraswamy Questions Congress Leadership

Kumaraswamy has also questioned why a sting operation was conducted in 2023 over an issue reportedly dating back to 2011. He asked why the government remained silent if the matter had been known for years. Alva has held several important positions in the Congress and served as chairperson of the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights in 2015.

The controversy now presents an uncomfortable challenge for the ruling party. If the allegations prove credible, the fallout could deepen internal tensions. For now, the evidence and the investigation will determine whether this was a political conspiracy or an accusation that fails to stand up to scrutiny.
