With around 100 days to go for Andhra Pradesh elections, parties have started to lock their MLA candidates. The situation is particularly interesting in Jagan’s YSRCP as he is shuffling his MLA candidates left right and centre.
Guntur West MLA, Maddali Giri is on the receiving end of this unexpected strategy from Jagan. Giri first won on TDP ticket from Guntur West in 2019 and then moved closely with YCP. He didn’t join YCP as such but was staying away from TDP and was sitting alongside YCP MLAs in the assembly.
Giri hoped that his affiliation with Jagan would get him YCP ticket in the next elections. But that’s not happening.
Jagan is fully depending on his own survey reports along with IPAC ground level reports to allot the MLA tickets. He is not showing any leniency even for those who were behind his back. On a similar note, Giri has also been intimated that he wouldn’t be getting the MLA ticket from Guntur West.
Guru’s followers are shocked by Jagan’s decision and are sitting for protests, demanding MLA ticket for their leader. But Jagan is not the kind of man who would change his mind once he makes it up. So, Giri is caught in a situation where he left TDP, hoping to get YCP ticket but was then dejected by Jagan. He can’t go back to TDP either now. He is in a mess.
