Supreme Court Refuses to Interfere in Cash for Vote Case

Supreme Court had refused to cancel the stay issued by the Hyderabad High Court on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s role in the Cash for Vote Case. YSR Congress MLA, Alla Rama Krishna Reddy approached the apex demand demanding to strike down the stay of the high court. The Supreme Court agreed to the defendant’s opinion that Rama Krishna Reddy’s petition is a politically motivated case.

The Court refused to issue stay on the Hyderabad High Court’s order and clarified that the case is in the purview of the high court and that court will hear to that. The court also asked the High Court to solve the case in four weeks time. This comes as a huge disappointment for YSR Congress Party which wants to pin down the Chief Minister with this case.

Cash for Vote scam shook Telugu states the last year after Telangana ACB arrested TDP (TS) Working President Revanth Reddy and two others for trying to bribe nominated MLA, Elvis Stephenson to vote in favour of their candidate in the MLC elections then. An audio tape which is alleged to be the conversation between Naidu and Stephenson is in the public domain.
