TDP Wins Pulivendula ZPTC Election
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has secured significant victories in YSR Kadapa district during the Andhra Pradesh MPTC and ZPTC elections, winning the Pulivendula and Mydukur ZPTC seats. The results have drawn attention as Pulivendula is the home constituency of former Chief Minister and YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
In Pulivendula, TDP candidate Bharathi defeated YSRCP candidate Savitri by a margin of 1,463 votes. The result came just days after the TDP-led alliance secured control of Pulivendula Municipality in the urban local body elections.
The TDP also won the Mydukur ZPTC seat, where its candidate Krishna Kishore defeated the YSRCP candidate by a reported margin of 18,903 votes. The two victories added to the alliance’s gains in the Kadapa region.
According to local reports, the ruling alliance secured 64 of the 65 MPTC seats in the Pulivendula Assembly constituency. The reported performance includes seats decided unanimously before polling.
In the Alireddypalli MPTC contest, a TDP candidate reportedly won by a narrow margin of 29 votes. The result was among several local-level victories reported during Saturday’s counting process.
Meanwhile, TDP candidate Obulamma won the Kasinayana ZPTC seat in the Badvel Assembly constituency, defeating the BJP candidate by a reported margin of 8,391 votes.
The TDP also registered victories in Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s Kuppam constituency in Chittoor district. YSRCP had not secured a seat there in the results reported at the time.
In Ramakuppam mandal, the TDP candidate won the Manendram MPTC seat by 712 votes. The party also secured Nadumuru in Kuppam mandal with a margin of 1,166 votes.
In Shantipuram mandal, TDP candidates won the C. Bandapalli and Morasanapalli MPTC seats by margins of 718 and 494 votes respectively.
The Pulivendula result carries political significance because of the constituency’s longstanding association with the YS family and YSRCP. The ZPTC victory follows the TDP-led alliance’s recent municipal election gains in the same area.
The results reflect the ruling alliance’s performance in several constituencies traditionally associated with prominent political leaders. However, the final statewide position of the TDP, Jana Sena, BJP and YSRCP will be established after counting and official declarations are completed.
