TDP to Test Waters in Kapu Predominant East Godavari

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu reportedly turned down the media reports about his son Lokesh contesting for the MLC polls from local bodies constituency of East Godavari. With this, the aspirants from the district have begun their trials to win the party ticket.

This constituency is very crucial for the ruling party as East Godavari is the hot bed for Kapu Agitation led by Mudragada Padmanabham. A big victory here will neutralize Mudragada Padmanabham’s threat and TDP will emerge strong.

Boddu Bhaskara Rama Rao who deserted the party before the elections and joined back after the party win is fancying chances with the support of the district ministers Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Nimmakayala Chinna Rajappa. Former minister Chikkala Ramachandra Rao, former minister Metla Satyanarayana’s son Metla Ramana Babu and TDP Senior Leader Ganni Krishna are said to be frontrunners if Naidu chooses to give chance to a leader from Kapu community.

It is confirmed that one Kapu leader will get a ticket from the either Godavari districts. Naidu may choose one from East Godavari to negate Mudragada’s threat. If TDP wins here comfortably, then it will refute the rumours that Kapu Community walked away from TDP post-Mudragada issue.
