Bihar Has Better Civic Behaviour Than TG: Study

An India Today study has revealed a surprising fact Bihar scored higher than Telangana and Karnataka in civic behaviour. The finding has sparked embarrassment among Telangana citizens, given the state’s image of urban progress and high living standards.

Civic behaviour in the study refers to how people act in public from littering habits and helping others in need to travelling without tickets. These everyday actions define how responsibly citizens behave in shared spaces.

Tamil Nadu topped the list with the best civic behaviour, followed by West Bengal and Odisha. Bihar ranked 11th, Telangana came 13th, and Karnataka stood at 18th. Punjab finished last at 23rd place.

The study did not include Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, or several northeastern states.

For a region known for its rising incomes and modern lifestyle, Telangana’s low rank paints a stark contrast. The survey highlights how economic progress alone doesn’t always reflect civic responsibility.
