The present state of civic sense in India is in a very poor state, and it becomes no more a surprise when one can say that it is criminal negligence. At the societal level, even the government and the laws do not train or penalize to inculcate the sense of civic responsibility in the people. Instead, we continue to propagate values and paths that remain toxic and unhealthy.
The psychological part is also not less alarming. The concept of caste and class further entice people to have a pure mindset and discard the responsibility of trash disposal as an act that is below their standard. For example, people do not carry empty packing and pet bottles in their bags because they consider them “jootha” meaning impure.

These are the unhealthy attitudes that we must fight and reject, more so we deserve better than what is currently being offered by our leaders.
It is now high time for all of us to stress the fact that people have to be accountable and responsible for what they do and, therefore, to dispose of waste in a proper manner. Only then can we build a cleaner, more equal, and more responsible society, and thus, a new India.
