Telangana government backtracks on NTR gardens

The other day we have a news that Telangana government is planning to develop Ambedkar Park in the place of the existing NTR gardens. This decision drew so much flak from all quarters and that forced the government to change its plan. The government confirmed to media that NTR gardens will remain untouched.

They clarified that the proposed 125 feet Ambedkar Statue and Square will come up in the land adjoining NTR gardens. They will however use the car parking and Party Zone site just beside NTR gardens. There is a total of 39 acres land there and NTR gardens is currently in 4 acres. The government will use the remaining 35 acres for Ambedkar Statue and Square.

GHMC officials inspected the site the other day. The statue will be of 125 years to mark the 125th Jayanthi of the constitution writer. The gigantic statue will be unveiled there by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on April 14,2017. Telangana government claims that this will be the biggest statue of Ambedkar in the country.
