T-Govt Violates International Protocols?

Telangana Tourism have setup new signage boards at Golconda Fort which became the center of controversy now. The Boards read that Golconda Fort has already been awarded the World Heritage Tag even though UNESCO is yet to pronounce its judgment. This is a violation of International Protocols, they say.

“The Tourism department went a step ahead in claiming the fort as World Heritage Site much in advance. This is against to the set protocol that every nation and state has to follow to attain such a tag”, Heritage activists laments. The state department of museums and archaeology also admits the mistake but throws the ball in to Tourism department’s court.

Hyderabad is trying for a spot on the prestigious list of World Heritage Sites for several years now. But despite repeated attempts it has failed to achieve its objective. Heritage experts attribute this failure to the complete lack of interest and inclination on the part of successive governments and officials.
