World Bank Middle Class Report: Telangana Surprises!

It is always known that Telangana is one of the few states in India, which have impressive per capita income. The financial city of Hyderabad and the rich agricultural resources have kept the state above the threshold level.

Now this fact has been reinstated by the World Bank as they have published the latest report regarding the revenue generated by the upper middle class in India.

Telangana is one of the better performing states in the country and the fact that it has been ranked third best on the list is a clear indication of the same.

According to the World Bank’s recent report, Telangana has an average yearly income of $5,407 per person. This beats the World Bank’s global standard for upper-middle-class status at $4,636.

Other Indian states on the list include Delhi, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat. As mentioned, Telangana is ranked third on the list as it is narrowly behind Karnataka.

Delhi – $6,217
Karnataka – $5,579
Telangana – $5,407
Tamil Nadu – $5,329
Gujarat – $4,734

Neighbouring Telugu State of Andhra Pradesh is not on the list yet, but in terms of per capita income, Andhra Pradesh is also one of the performing states in the country by the local standards.
