Three New Airports in AP Gets Center’s Green Signal

Central Government had approved Three New Airports in Andhra Pradesh. Steering Committee headed by the Union Civil Aviation Ministry Secretary gave a green signal to Bhogapuram Airport. Central Government also agreed for two other airports in Nellore and Kurnool districts. With this, all the decks are cleared for calling bids for these airports construction.

The presence of TDP Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju in Civil Aviation Ministry eased things for AP. These airports are expected to cater for the need of air traffic and also helps the cargo transportation which will pave way for economic development in the state. On the other side, the state government almost completed the land acquisition for Bhogapuram Airport in Vizianagaram district.

The state government is planning to begin the construction early next year. Bhogapuram Aerotropolis project comprises of an international airport, maintenance repair and overhaul facility and an aviation academy. The new airport is planned to ease the burden on Vishakapatnam airport which registered a whopping increase in passenger traffic after bifurcation.
