Three YSRCP MLCs are set to join TDP in the presence of Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu. The muhurat for their formal entry is fixed for Friday. The leaders Balli Kalyan Chakravarthy, Karri Padmasri and Marri Rajasekhar will officially shift to TDP.
CM Chandrababu Naidu will welcome them into the party by placing the TDP scarf in Amaravati. Interestingly, the three leaders had already resigned from the posts they held during their YSRCP tenure. However, the Legislative Council chairman has not yet accepted their resignations.
After the Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, several YSRCP leaders have been leaving the party. Vijayasai Reddy, who was the party’s chief secretary, also resigned. He not only quit YSRCP but also gave up his Rajya Sabha membership.
Several other YSRCP Rajya Sabha MPs too have resigned from their posts and distanced themselves from the party. In this latest shift, the three MLCs have confirmed their move towards TDP.
If the trend continues, YSRCP risks losing more leaders, raising concerns that it could soon be seen as a party of the past.
