Heavy rainfall in recent days has led to widespread devastation in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, causing severe flooding in many areas across both states.
Rescue and relief operations are still underway. With the IMD issuing warnings about more rainfall from today, the governments of both states are taking necessary precautions to prevent further damage.
Meanwhile, in a strange and heartbreaking incident, over 1 lakh trees fell in the forest area of the Mulugu district due to a tornado-like storm.
Though the incident happened on August 31, it saw the light much later. On August 31, between 5 pm and 7 pm, the concerned area witnessed incessant rainfall with heavy winds.
As a result, trees spreading across 500 acres, ranging from Kondai village in Eturunagaram mandal to the Gonepalli village in the Thadvai mandal were uprooted.
Cabinet Minister Seethakka requested the central government to send special teams to find out the cause of this incident and allocate necessary funds to restore the trees in the region.
Meanwhile, weather experts on social media are speculating that it could be a tornado. Noted weather enthusiast Balaji shared his opinion on social media, stating that while tornadoes are rare, they cannot be entirely ruled out in a place like Telangana.
He said that especially when a large depression core is moving towards the state, tornadoes are more likely to form in areas with open land, plain forest regions, or near water bodies.
