Tragedy Strikes Young Indo-American Woman During India Trip

A young American woman, Karanam Preeti Padmanaidu (21), had come to India to attend a wedding. She would never have imagined that she would never be able to go back to America alive.

In an unfortunate tragedy, Preeti died in a road accident just before she was due to depart back to America. The incident occurred near the outskirts of Nalgonda district’s Kethepalli Mandal.

The police say that the family of Karanam Padmanaidu, originally from Vijayawada but has settled in the US for the past few years, had come to India to attend a wedding in their relatives’ family. Preeti, Padmanaidu’s daughter, was scheduled to return to America after the ceremony. Her flight was to take off on Saturday night from Hyderabad. When it was time to leave for the airport, her close relatives were present to drop her at the airport in the car.

They were driving to Hyderabad from Vijayawada, and while they were passing through the suburbs of Kadhamgudem, an unknown vehicle, traveling at high speed from Suryapet, collided with their car from behind. Their car flipped three times on the highway, which caused Preeti to suffer severe head injuries and die on the spot.

The car driver, Shreyas Doppalapudi, and other passengers, Chekuri Sarita, Divi Padmavathy, and Divi Vishwavikhyat, also sustained serious injuries.

Preeti’s body was taken for postmortem to Nakirekal Government Hospital, and the injured individuals were shifted for medical treatment. Kethepalli ASI, N. Srinivas, gave a statement that a case had been registered, and the investigation is going on in full throttle.
