TV9-ABN Ban issue in Rajya Sabha!

Congress Rajya Sabha MP Renuka Chowdary had raised the Telangana MSOs’ ban of TV9 and ABN-Andhra Jyothy channels in Rajya Sabha today. Renuka informed the house that the government is aiding sources which are trying to annex the freedom of speech in the new state. She also mentioned that Telangana government is behaving as a dictator and is not paying heed to the directives of the courts and central government on this issue.

TRS MP K Keshava Rao tried to interrupt Renuka Chowdary’s speech but she went on. He even interrupted saying that this is an issue of the state government and nothing to do with the Parliament. It was then Rajya Sabha deputy Chairman Kurien intervened and said media operations come under the jurisdiction of the central government and it is right to take up the issue to Parliament’s notice.
