Uday Nagaraj, originally from Telangana, has taken oath as a life-long member or life peer in the Upper House of British Parliament, House of Lords.
The oath was carried out as per Britain Parliament‘s procedures with Nagaraju being clad in a deep red gown. Nagaraju who has been living in Britain for 25 years took oath on the Bhagavat Gita.
Nagaraju hails from Senigaram village in Koheda, Siddipet district. After leaving for Britain 25 years back, he started the Mahatma Gandhi Future Leaders Programme. He has been striving to inculcate moral values, Gandhian principles and social values among youth.
He is also the founder of AI Policy Labs, an organisation that works on developing Artificial Intelligence and global governance. Two years back, he contested for the Labour party from North Bedfordshire. He stood second. Despite that, following a recommendation by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, King Charles 3 appointed Nagaraju as a Member of House of Lords.
Nagaraju will henceforth be addressed as Lord of Bloomsbury. There is a strong reason for adding Bloomsbury in his name. The prestigious University College London is in the Bloomsbury area. Mahatma Gandhi studied in the same college where Nagaraju graduated in public administration.
