A 21-year-old MBBS student from Telangana, Arshid Ashrith, lost his life in a tragic road accident in Vietnam.
The CCTV footage of the crash is now going viral, showing the final moments of a bright student who had gone abroad with dreams of becoming a doctor.
Arshid, who was in his third year of medical studies in Can Tho city, was riding a bike with his friend. The video shows them speeding down a quiet road late at night.
He tries to avoid another vehicle, swerves left, and crashes into a wall. The impact was brutal.
The bike flipped twice in the air and landed far away in a mangled state. Both riders were thrown off. Arshid died on the spot. His friend survived but is seriously injured and is in the hospital.
Arshid was the son of cloth merchants from Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district in Telangana. He was their only hope and pride.
They had sent him to Vietnam with big dreams of seeing him become a doctor. Now, they are shattered—waiting to bring his body back home.
Telangana MLA Dr P Harish Babu visited the family to offer support. He also spoke to Union Minister G Kishan Reddy over the phone, requesting immediate help in bringing Arshid’s body back to India.
This is not an isolated case. In May, two Indian students in the US died in a car crash. In April, a 21-year-old Indian girl in Canada was hit by a stray bullet.
With back-to-back tragedies involving young Indian students abroad, many families are now questioning the safety and risks their children face in foreign countries.
