Governor Invites Vijay, But Can TVK Reach Majority?

Vijay has officially been invited by the Tamil Nadu Governor to form the government after Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam emerged as the single largest party in the Assembly elections.

Lok Bhavan announced that Vijay will meet the Governor today at 4 PM. While the invitation is a major political moment, the real challenge for TVK now is proving majority.

TVK won 108 seats in the election, still short of the 118-seat mark needed to form the government on its own. That has now shifted the entire focus from celebrations to numbers.

The Indian National Congress has formally extended support to TVK, backing the idea of a secular and welfare-oriented government in Tamil Nadu. But even with Congress support, political observers believe TVK may still need additional backing to comfortably cross the majority mark.

This has made talks with smaller regional parties and independent MLAs extremely important over the next few days.

Political circles are also watching developments inside rival camps closely, especially amid speculation that some AIADMK MLAs could lean towards supporting Vijay.

Sources indicate that TVK has sought time to prove its majority on the Assembly floor, while discussions with potential allies continue in the background.

The Governor’s move is being seen as part of the constitutional process, allowing the single largest party the opportunity to demonstrate support in the House.

For Vijay, the biggest hurdle, emerging as the leading force in Tamil Nadu politics, has already been crossed. The next challenge is turning electoral momentum into a stable government.

The victory has brought Vijay to the doorstep of power. What happens next depends entirely on the numbers.
