Tamil Nadu has found itself a new chief minister in the form of Vijay Thalapathy, who happens to be the first CM outside the ranks of DMK and AIDMK in the state. So the default expectation is that he’d be offering something completely different from the traditional administrators.
When it comes to the method of operation, it needs to be said that Vijay had been following the same old script that usually say with new politicians.
The pictures and videos of Vijay having his lunch from a traditional plain steel box at the CM office in Chennai and also his convoy taking the public road without any obstructions are going viral.
These are new visual optics that almost every chief minister to assumes office for the first time would put on display. This might sound good on the paper and excites to a great extent.
However, the problem is with the prolonged application of the same, and this is where most of the chief ministers struggle. Telangana CM Revanth Reddy had also been struggling with the convoy issues for the last few months after promising no public obstruction at first.
It has to be seen if the case of Thalapathy Vijay would also turn out to be like this standard template tokenism or if he’d actually put the efforts into sustaining this disciplined and humble method of administration.
