Vizag gets $114 Million help from World Bank!

The World Bank has agreed to give $114 Million to replace all overhead Power supply cables with underground cable network. The state government has come up with the idea after the recent Hudhud Cyclone that hit the state. The idea of underground power cabling is being mooted by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to protect the power network of the city in the times of calamity.

PFC Consulting Limited, a subsidiary of state-run Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFC) is entrusted the job of preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR). The Central government is required to approve it once it is submitted. The devastating cyclone resulted in losses of over Rs 1200 crore to power utilities and such cases will be drastically reduced in future.

Four private consultancies were shortlisted in last week of DEcember through sealed bids tenders and PFC will select one of them to conduct detailed studies and then prepare the DPR.
