YS Sharmila decided to stay away from Telangana Assembly elections. She extended support to Congress in the election so as to ensure that the anti-government votes did not split.
Political circles are abuzz with the pressure of Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy worked on Sharmila.
Sharmila was keen on contesting from Paleru in Khammam district, a Reddy community Bastion. Ponguleti who is very close to Jagan and a key contractor of many important projects in Andhra Pradesh was the Congress candidate.
To help Ponguleti win, Jagan exerted pressure on Sharmila using his mother, YS Vijaya Lakshmi.
But then, it is known that the relations between Jagan and Sharmila get stained. In politics, nothing comes free.
Jagan should have promised something to Sharmila. It can be money or contractors or even some plum nominated post either if Congress wins Telangana or in Andhra Pradesh.
Knowing that Sharmila is too ambitious in politics, it is unlikely that Jagan promise her any political position in Andhra Pradesh.
