The Government today has released another 1000 Crore for Jagananna Vasthi Deevena, a scheme meant to pay hostel fees. Netizens on Social media are unhappy about this for two different reasons. Firstly, they question why such a scheme is needed when the hostels are closed due to the COVID Second Wave.
The Government has splurged full-page ads about it in the Newspapers today morning. The pictures of the front page ads are doing rounds on social media. The first one is understandable to some extent because the hostels were open for at least for few months.
People are questioning the rationale behind the self-publicity madness in this crisis when the same monies can be directed to purchase oxygen cylinders, medicines, or even the creation of new medical facilities.
