Who Care These Explanations Of Jagan Government?

Opposition Parties are agitating against the Jagan Government’s move to increase the Property Tax in Municipalities across the state. Currently, the property tax is based on Rental Value, and going forward it will be on market value which means an increase every time when the market values increase.

That is like once every year. Municipal Minister, Botsa Satyanarayana has tried to support the government’s move for some technical reasons. “Opposition parties are creating misconceptions about the property tax hike. We are changing the flawed policy on taxation so far. The policy should be transparent and the new policy will be fair to all,” he said.

But then, at the end of the day, who really cares for these explanations? People will see an increase in the tax when they get their bills next time and will naturally feel the pinch. That is what the Opposition is really bothered about. This is the first time the property tax has hiked ever since the AP bifurcation has happened.

With dwindling revenues and a huge bill for welfare schemes, more such hikes may come our way in the coming days.
