Who Is This Deepika, The YCP Candidate In Hindupur?

YSR Congress is going to face its third election in Hindupur in the coming election. It had two different candidates to defeat Nandamuri Balakrishna in the 2014 and 2019 elections but without any luck.

YSR Congress fielded Naveen Nischal in 2014 but failed. They brought a minority, Iqbal in 2019 to take on Balakrishna with no luck. Iqbal was made the MLC to make him strong for 2024 but Survey reports are not favorable.

Now, the party has brought a third candidate, Deepika to be the candidate in the coming election.

YSR Congress is saying that she is a BC and there is also the woman card – both factors will help her immensely in the election.

But TDP says Deepika is not a BC as being portrayed.

Deepika is the wife of Venugopal Reddy, a Tier-2 leader of the Hindupur YSR Congress. Her parents belong to the Kuruba community and her husband belongs to the Reddy community.

TDP says she is a Reddy as a woman will inherit the caste of her husband after marriage. Anyways, YSR Congress believes this Reddy and BC combination along with the women’s card will help big time.

TDP has won all ten elections in this constituency dominated by BCs. Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao won thrice from here while Harikrishna won once. Balakrishna recorded two victories on a trot in the constituency and is targeting a hattrick this time.
