Kurnool MP: YSR Congress To Play Caste Politics!

Jagan-BY-RamaiahYSR Congress’s candidate Sanjeev Kumar won as Kurnool MP in the 2019 elections with a record majority. But sources say that he is unlikely to get a ticket in the next elections. Jagan is keen on deploying caste equations for this seat.

Jagan is keen on giving the ticket to someone belonging to the Valmiki community which has a decisive presence in Aluru, Mantralayam, and a sizeable presence in the rest of the constituencies.

Minister Gummanur Jayaram and Kurnool Mayor BY Ramaiah are the contenders as they are from the same community.

Ramaiah is also the YSR Congress Kurnool District President.

Jayaram is a cash-bag and can afford to spend huge for the MP seat but then, he is a controversial figure with many corruption allegations.

At the same time, BY Ramaiah did not even complete two years in office as the Mayor. It has to be seen if he will be sent to the Parliament.

It has to be seen if Jagan will give either of them a chance or bring in a new candidate from the same community.

Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see how TDP will counter this strategy. Kotla Surya Prakash Reddy contested from TDP in the 2019 elections and lost.
