Why Upper Caste Leadership For the BC Movement?

The other day, the office of MLC Teenmar Mallanna in Medipalli was attacked.

Mallanna’s office was attacked for making inappropriate comments about Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLC and Telangana Jagruti president Kavitha.

At a BC JAC Meeting, Teenmaar Mallanna made objectionable comments about Kavitha a few days ago.

“బీసీలకు ఏమొస్తే నీకెందుకు.. నువ్వేమన్న బీసీవా.. కంచం పొత్తు ఉందా.. మంచం పొత్తు ఉందా,” he said.

The followers of Kavitha took a severe objection to the word ‘మంచం పొత్తు’.

Meanwhile, Mallanna and some BC Associations are supporting those comments questioning why a Velama leadership is needed for the BC Reservations Movement.

“What is wrong with what Mallanna said? Velamas have no alliance with BCs. And what does Velama’s leadership have to do with our BC movements and politics? Andhra leaders poking their nose in Telangana and the upper castes involved in the BC movements are the same,” they are saying.

This is a senseless argument.

Political Decisions are passed in the country only with consensus.

For a major decision like Reservations, the consensus should be achieved by making everyone a stakeholder.

It is unfortunate in this country, power and major decision-making still remain with the Upper Castes.

All the major political parties are led by the Upper Castes.

It is important that they are also on the same boat.

If they are shunned, the street movements will have to continue forever.

The way Kavitha is shunned from this movement is completely unnecessary.

This may also be a plan to alienate them from the mainstream political space. The BCs should understand this.
